At Hollands we introduced “clothes on” day to our swim school in the hope that it would benefit the children with their survival skills. We felt it was important that the children experienced the feel of resistance that clothes create when they become wet. Lets face it if a child is going to fall into water when an adult is not around they will not have their togs and goggles on.
Once fully clothed, the children are asked to jump into the water and get themselves back to the side of the pool.
We hear many stories of little ones falling into their own pools fully clothed and getting themselves out without any problem. The parents feel it is because of the “clothes on” days with their swim teacher.
We believe this is an essential part of the learn to swim program.
